Dylan is currently a master’s candidate at The University of Waterloo in the applied math department. He has completed a double major in physics and computational mathematics at Memorial University of Newfoundland’s Grenfell Campus, with experience in black hole dynamics, experimental particle physics, and model theory prior to switching to glaciology and environmental science.
Under the supervision of Dr. Christine Dow and collaboration with uWaterloo master’s candidate Kevin Siu, his project is to soft couple the Ice-Sheet and Sea-Level System Model (ISSM) with the two-dimensional Glacier Drainage System model (GlaDS) to investigate the properties and consequences of subglacial hydrological processes. This novel approach could provide the glaciological community with an Antarctic-wide hydrology discharge product, as well as improve knowledge on the effects of subglacial processes on glaciers and ice sheets.
When Dylan is not studying or working, he can be found playing guitar, practicing taekwondo, or enjoying the beautiful landscape of the island of Newfoundland.
